RCSL 2026, RCSL 2027, RCSL Meetings

After its 2026 Annual Meeting, RCSL is currently preparing two meetings for 2027.

RCSL 2026 Annual Meeting took place in Santiago de Chile. Its Final Programme is available on the Meeting’s Official Website. See the Statement on Ethical Collegiality and Interim Anti-Harassment Procedure adopted for that Meeting. On this website, see also the Welcoming Words delivered by RCSL President at the Spening Session, a Summary of the Announcement of the 2026 Podgórecki Prize and the Agenda of the RCSL Business Meeting of 2 September.

In 2027, RCSL will participate in the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology, Gwangju, Korea, from 4 to 10 July. The call for abstracts is now open and closes on 14 October at 23:59 UTC/GMT. Details about the RCSL Sessions at Gwangju are to be found here.

In 2027 too, RCSL will participate in the Global Law & Society Meeting to be organized in Hong Kong, 22-25 June. Details as well as a link to its official website to be found here.

RCSL at the 2027 ISA World Congress: Call for Sessions

While finalizing the preparations for its 2026 Meeting in Santiago de Chile, RCSL is pleased to begin preparations for its participation in the XXI ISA World Congress of Sociology, which will take place in Gwangju, Korea, from 4 to 10 July 2027, under the theme “Global Sociology in Turbulent Times.”

As a first step, we invite RCSL WG Chairs and other interested RCSL Members to submit session proposals by 25 June 2026.

2026 Santiago de Chile RCSL Meeting – Travel Grants

The preparation of the 2026 Santiago de Chile RCSL Meeting ( https://rcsl2026.udp.cl/) is well on the way and its complete programme should be published in the next weeks. It is now time for potential participants to deal with their travel and accommodation arrangements.

As in other years, RCSL will support the travel costs of some of the students and post-docs participating in the 2026 Meeting.

Interested persons should send their application by next May 25th 24:00 UTC.

Three Important IISL Deadlines

RCSL wishes to draw the attention of the socio-legal research community on three important calls opened by the International Institute for the Sociology of Law (IISL):

(1) Call for applications to enroll in The 2026-2027 IISL’s International Master’s in Sociology of Law, deadline 13 March 2026; see its complete programme available on the IISL Website.

(2) Call for 2027 IISL Workshop applications, deadline 16 March 2026.

(3) Call for applications for the position of Administrative Director of the IISL, deadline 20 March 2026, 14:00 CET.

Lawyers and the Rule of Law Under Pressure: Call for Abstracts closes 31 January

RCSL Working Groups

Meeting 2026 of the WG Comparative Studies of Legal Professions will take place 22-23 June 2026 in Rotterdam at Erasmus University, under the organizing theme Lawyers and the Rule of Law Under Pressure.

Abstracts and indication of attendance should be communicated by 31 January 2026 to the relevant subgroup chair.

Workshop on Legal Cultures and Legal Consciousness

RCSL Working Group on Comparative Legal Culture and RCSL Working Group on Knowledge and Opinion about Law – Legal Consciousness jointly organize a workshop on 8 December 2025 in Budapest, at Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law. 5th ISA Forum of Sociology – RCSL Student Travel Grants

ISA has now published the complete official programme of the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology ( https://isaconf.confex.com/isaconf/forum2025/meetingapp.cgi/Home/0  ; also published on this site). This allows us all to settle our travel and accommodation arrangements.

As in other years, RCSL will support the travel costs of some of the students and post-docs participating in its sessions at Rabat. About four grants should be awarded depending on the effective travel costs to be funded.

Interested persons should send their application by next Friday 23 May 24:00 UTC.
