RCSL Working Group on Comparative Legal Culture and RCSL Working Group on Knowledge and Opinion about Law – Legal Consciousness jointly organize a workshop on 8 December 2025 in Budapest, at Eötvös Loránd University Faculty of Law. International Master in Sociology of Law – Last Pre-Enrolment Period

The 3rd and last pre-enrolment period for the International Master in Sociology of Law of the University of the Basque Country, organized at the International Institute for the Sociology of Law, is open from 2 to 4 July 2025. 5th ISA Forum of Sociology – RCSL Student Travel Grants

ISA has now published the complete official programme of the 5th ISA Forum of Sociology ( https://isaconf.confex.com/isaconf/forum2025/meetingapp.cgi/Home/0  ; also published on this site). This allows us all to settle our travel and accommodation arrangements.

As in other years, RCSL will support the travel costs of some of the students and post-docs participating in its sessions at Rabat. About four grants should be awarded depending on the effective travel costs to be funded.

Interested persons should send their application by next Friday 23 May 24:00 UTC.

Call for the IISL Scientific Directorship 2025-27

A call for the Scientific Directorship of the International Institute for the Sociology of Law (IISL), term September 2025-July 2027, renewable one time, has been issued. Applications should be submitted by 30 April 2025. Download here the complete text of the call. IISL Call for Workshops 2026

The International Institute for the Sociology of Law (IISL) recently issued its annual Call for Workshops. Applications for workshops to be held from April 2026 to July 2026 should be submitted by next 28 February 2025. Detailed guidelines are available on the IISL official website (see Regulation for 2026 Workshops). We hope very much that IISL will receive many applications emanating from RCSL Working Groups. However, the call is open to all researchers or networks active in the socio-legal field. Interested people might have a glance at the IISL Workshops programme of recent years (for example years 2023 and 2024) or of the coming Workshop season 2025, also accessible on the IISL Website.

V ISA Forum Registration Grants – Call for Applications

Preparing the V ISA Forum of Sociology, ISA offers grants covering the registration costs. Research Committees are in charge of organizing the allocation of these grants. This is why RCSL opens the present call for applications:

The Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Crip Time: How Can Law Instantiate the Lived Experiences of Disabled Workers?

It will debate how to better enforce and protect the rights of disabled workers under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Discussant: João Velloso (University of Ottawa), Chair of the RCSL Working Group on ‘Judicialization of Social Problems’.

As announced at the occasion of the RCSL 2024 Bangor Annual Meeting, the Podgórecki Prize 2024 was awarded ex aequo to Julia Dahlvik (Viena) and Edvaldo Moita (Brasília). Our warm congratulations to both laureates! Details will be published soon in the RCSL Newsletter and on the present website.

2024 Bangor Updated Programme – 2025 Rabat Call for Abstracts Now Open

While RCSL is busy preparing its 2024 Meeting, which soon will take place in Bangor, 3-6 September, Representing LawDraft Programme updated 29 August, available on this site -, we also started to work on the 2025 Meeting, which will be the participation of RCSL to the V ISA Forum, Rabat, 6-11 July 2025, Knowing Justice in the Anthropocene. The Call for Abstracts for that meeting is now open, and will close on 15 October 2024.
